Refineries are the production facilities, composed of a group of Chemical Engineering Unit Processes and Unit Operations, refining certain materials or converting raw material into products of value. Petroleum, Oil, Gas, Sugar, Salt, Metals are all processed under these Refineries. As far as Petro-Chemical Industries are concerned, the original raw material of the industry is crude oil. Indian Oil, Gas Authority of India (Gail), Indian Petrochemical (IPCL) took major initiative to promote PetroChemical industry. These companies along with private players like Reliance, Oswal Agro invested huge amount of money in the development of the industry. Out of the Few Petrochemical plants which are now operative, four are located at Gujarat, three within Maharashtra and One each situated in U.P. and West Bengal respectively.
